Detailed Itinerary Explorer 4 WD Tour (Half Day / 8 am - 1 pm)


8.00 am: Pick up from your accommodation in Denham / Monkey Mia.

 

8.00 am – 10.00 am: Follow the sandy track to Cape Peron. Learn about the history, flora and fauna of the place.

 

10 am – 12 pm: Explore Cape Peron which is characterised by red cliffs and a white sandy beach. Enjoy a pleasant morning tea before heading to Skipjack Point. A short 200m walk takes you to two viewing platforms from where you can often see a great variety of marine life such as rays, dugongs, dolphins and sharks. Please note that in the winter months there is considerably less fauna activity.

 

12 pm – 1 pm: Head back to Denham and  (time permitting...) enjoy a short photo stop at one of the beautiful bays along the way.

Detailed Itinerary Explorer Tour (Full Day / 8 am - 5 pm)


8.00 am: Pick up from your accommodation in Denham / Monkey Mia.

 

8.00 am – 10 am: Follow the sandy track to Point Peron with many interesting stops on the way.

 

10 am – 12.30 pm: Visit the stunningly beautiful Cape Peron and take your time exploring the tip of the peninsula. Marvel at some magnificent red cliffs, enjoy a walk along the Wanamalu Walk Trail and discover a hidden bay of wild beauty. In between regain your energy during morning tea in a shady shelter. 

 

12 pm – 1.30 pm: Drive to Skipjack Point and enjoy a short walk along a boardwalk to magnificent vantage points. From two viewing platforms take in breathtaking views over the coast line, Cape Peron and down into the ocean. From here you can often see a great variety of marine life such as rays, dugongs, dolphins and sharks. Continue to one of the beautiful bays along the west coast for lunch.

 

1.30 pm – 4 pm: Enjoy lunch with ocean views and then go for a walk and drive to explore a few other colourful bays.

 

4.00 pm – 5.00 pm: After afternoon tea follow the scenic track back to Denham.

What to bring?


Sun protection: Hat, sunscreen, long-sleeved Shirt.

 

Warm clothes (in winter): Remember that in winter the wind can be quite fresh and cool. 

 

Sturdy footwear: The surface of most walking trails is soft sand.

 

Daypack: Suitable for hiking. 

 

Camera & binoculars: There will be lot's of opportunities to use either of these.
